You can mount a 225/45 but it feels a bit sloppy. We usually do 205/45 or 215/40.

Brian,
could you please also comment on putting 225/50s, on a 16x8" wheel.
I like the classic look of bigger tires/smaller rims, but I would not want to loose too much responsiveness.
Would this make the car too "sloppy"?

I ran 225/50 on 16x8 on my first 2006. Ride is good, responsiveness is low.

OK Thanks !
If the lack of responsiveness is caused by a lack of support from the sidewalls, would a wider rim (9") help in this situation?
Or would it be better to go to a narrower tire (215) and stay with the 8" rim?

With either of these 2 solutions, I'm trying to get the sidewalls somewhat angled out like a trapezoid, instead of being vertical... which would stiffen the whole tire side-to-side... I suppose.

Yes, 225mm is a 9 inch wide tire.... and a 9 inch wide wheel would help stabilize that tire.

Well, I spent hours searching for a 16x9 wheel with the correct offset, without any success at all.
It is impressive to see the choice available in small 15 &16 wheels for the NAs & NBs, while the NCs are left aside.

Back in the thread on the new Traklites, you commented that there was no demand for 16s for the NCs.
As demand can be "created" by making a new product available, we can wonder if making wide 16 inchers available wouldn't be a good marketing strategy. Of course, new wheels in this category would have to be very light, racing wheels, not just standard issue street wheels.

I wonder what the results of a poll would be on this issue...

Thanks for your time, Brian.
And O.P., sorry for hijacking your thread.

A couple of options for 16's...tried and true. Each of these will build you a specific offset/front space/back space and the sky's the limit. Yes, they're more expensive than cast wheels, but also stronger, possibly lighter, and you get them YOUR WAY.

Altair, did you have any luck with the 16" wheel's? I too like the look of the taller sidewall and think it would be better for all the pot holes around here. Would love to find a 16x8x48.
