NC PRHT wheel tire recommendation

New guy here. Just bought an 08 PRHT in copper red with the suspension package and I'm looking for wheels since the OEM ones are pretty banged up. I'm planning on installing Koni shocks and progress springs and sways. This would be my weekend driver so mostly spirited N. GA mountain driving and maybe 10% autocross.

From what I have read 235 tires might be overkill for mostly street driving. Was thinking on 215's on a 7.5 or 8" wheel (so I have the option of going to 235's in the future). I like the RFP1 wheel but would prefer it in black... not sold on the silver or SBC finish. Is there a black RFP1 with an offset that will fit this setup without rolling fenders?

If not I guess my other option would be the heavier PF01? Im open to suggestions.

Great looking Miata. The Enkei 17x7.5 RPF1 does not come black currently. With just a 215/45/17 tire you could plug and place our black flow formed Advanti Hybris 17x7.5.

Brian,

Any idea how much that wheel weights?

About the same as stock, in the 17 pound range. I understand that the Advanti Storm that is very popular with our NA/NB Miata customers will come in 17 inch this year....but have not heard ETA yet.

Will I have the option of possibly going with a 235 tire with a 45mm offset wheel without rolling fenders or should I go to a 48/50mm wheel to have that option in the future?

You want 48/50mm for 235/40/17 if you want to avoid fender roll.

For example, our 17x8 PF01 Enkei works great for that size.

Au contraire... It is available from Tire Rack for $251 each. I have a set on my car.

Enkei tells me black not in production in that size and has not been for a long time....so likely Tirerack did bulk order at sometime in the past and still has inventory, same as we did with the SBC finish of the same size.

Than you so much for the help! So I should be able to do a 17x8 45mm offset wheel with a 215 tire with no issues right? is the 235 that would require fender rolling? If thats the case I might do a silver RFP1 I'll rather have a lighter wheel than having a black wheel.

Yes, 17x8 fits with 215 and even 225....but 235 would usually need a bit of fender roll.
