Putting together a 2005 Miata to run in ES and currently have 16x6.5. I can go +/- 1 inch, so options are stock or decrease to 15x6.5. 15x6.5 has bigger selection of tires and might net a couple of pounds lighter on each corner. But I don't really want to shell out $400+ on an additional set of wheels if I don't have to. My question would be, does anybody have an opinion about the affect of the taller/shorter tire sidewall on handling? The Toyo Proxes R1R, for example, should be available by spring in either 205/50r15 or 205/45r16, which size would one want to run?
