Best bang for buck…but will it be too loud/have drone?

Hello All,

Just picked up a 2008 PRHT and am wanting to add power to it. I am on a budget and looking for the best bang for the buck as far as exhaust is concerned while mitigating drone. I don't mind the car/exhaust being loud when on it but would like to mitigate the drone. I was thinking of purchasing the RS Max Power SS header along with the RS Street single and staying with the stock midpipe. I've been reading up on the forums and from what I understand that the PRHT model is prone to drone with certain exhaust? So with this set-up…will it have that drone?

The SuperQ remains our suggestion for anybody with the PRHT....not the Street Single.

I have a '07 PRHT and the street single muffler with the rest of the exhaust system stock, and it tends to drone. I couldn't imagine the amount of noise if you add a header...

I have the full exhaust catted street hdr catted midpipe and the original Q muffler on a prht car.
I left the removable baffles out of the muffler and car has a real nice, almost european sports car-like, tone. Not annoyingly loud and no drone.
Ok,i am an older guy but even my son-in-law loves the sound.
Loudness is very subjective but imo Brian is right on with using the Q or now with the super Q with a prht car.
I have heard a car with just the race single on it and oem hdr etc and for me its a little too ricer on a street car.
There some sound files on fhe interweb to listen to and these may help you decide whats right for you.

I have a PRHT with PPE Header, Midpipe and Street Single.

Top Down - I like it much more driving under any condition. It makes such a more visceral experience. I do not want to go back to the regular Q I have. Esp. on a canyon run, where the echo off the walls makes it even louder.

Top Up - Well that is a different story. This is where I would want my Q. Drone of the Q times two. If you have it on cruise control it is not that bad, you get used to it and after a while it no longer seems louder than the Q. But any small change in RPM and you will be reminded you have the Street Single. I would hate stop go commute traffic with the top up.

I recommend it for a fun weekend car that you drive mostly top down. I do not recommend it for a daily driver with a lot of top up.

If you live in So. Cal, I am selling my Q. Sorry I am not shipping due to weight.

On my 07 PRHT I have the race single and the race mid-pipe, and it drones less than when I had just the race single. Granted this set-up is much louder than many would want, I love it and am just adding to the discussion.
