Super20 flair tire size

Post by eflove »

I'm getting to the limit of my conti slicks and looking to add some wheel and tire width after adding some of the "super20" flairs. Does anyone have experience with fitting a max width 17in Hoosier with these flairs? Brian maybe you shed some light on this? I'd love to fit a 275 all around but not sure if i'll need to setter for a 255.

With a good fender roll and our new 17x10 6UL wheels I currently have 255/40 RE71R fitting easily, and have actually fit up to 265 Hoosier slicks with good roll/pull on the old version of this same wheel, 6ULR.

With our original flares I have fit up to 295/30/18 Hoosiers in the back, 285/30 up front on our 2007.

The Super20 flares require you to cut out the metal under, Ron Bauer is likely the guy to ask on that, he used them on his DP racer. I see that he lists the car for sale here with:

2 sets of tires with only Nationals runs on them plus 4 new tires (Hoosier R75A - 23.5x11x16)
1 set of TR Motorsports 17x9 wheels with 275/40/17 Kumho W710 rain tires

Seems like if you can fit a 265 Hoosier with a good roll and pull then with the flairs a 275 should fit. Might push the fenders out while cutting/welding them for a little extra space. Thanks Brian.

I run 18x10" RPF1s and 285/30 Hoosier A6s using the Super20 flares. I've not tried them yet, but I'm certain the 275/35-17 or 275/40-17 will fit using my 17x10" RPF1s as well. That said, I did trim off all the extra material under the flair (about 1/2"), plus the steel in the fenders.
