What size tire are you running? I don't think I can fit much more under the stock body than the 235 conti slicks I run.

255/40 BFG street tires...about the same size as your "235" Conti-labeled Hoosier-built slicks. It would be a fender roll and a mild pull to make them fit.

Are you building this for a specific class? That is a lot if sweet custom work you are having done. Unless you have to run those tires for a class, cuttings the fenders and adding flares will allow you much more grip from some other tire options.

FWIW, there are some good 16" options out there, but that currently limits you even further on brake options, although Flyin' Miata is working on a "Little Big Brake option."

I am building it as a car to be a fun car that can drive to the track and play with the big boys. If it ever gets put in a class it will be a NASA TT class. I have more fun chasing time on my own than doing anything door to door. I get the conti slicks for free so It's hard to go in another direction but I might step up to hoosier R80s. I think a "235" slick is a fine width for a 2100lb car.

Fair enough on the free tires..... Hard to argue that!

Since my experience in my car is limited to autocross, I was thinking more along the line of compound. Getting harder compound tires up to heat is challenging in a 2100 lb car. There aren't a lot of slick options available in 17" and 18" sizes, which is why I went with 16". Just something to keep in mind for the future.

FWIW, my car weighs under 2000 lbs. I've had to add ballast to get up to my 2070 lb minimum for my class.
