I recently ordered a bottle of the HKS traction fluid from another major reseller of the kit, who I shall not name here, and was instead sent a bottle of Rotrex R50-S150 ...
The fact I paid $250 for the HKS can and got a $120 bottle of Rotrex aside, HKS warns that *only* HKS traction fluid should be used in their GT2 supercharger. Im wondering if this stuff is actually the same and can be used in the HKS, or if I risk damaging the supercharger by using it?

While I'm on the topic, has anyone else encountered issues with traction fluid escaping from the vented cap on track days? I'm having to add fluid after just one season.

My understanding is that the HKS blower is essentially a Rotrex. I imagine it will work just fine though curious as to what differences, if any, there is with the fluid. Quick Google search finds the same question in other forums.

I seem to recall that HKS started with rebadged Rotrex units, and perhaps made under license early on, but then went down their own road on both production and engineering details. Whether those details are enough to warrant a different fluid is an interesting question. From Motortrend on a Nissan Z kit:
' While many might come to the assumption that the GT supercharger is a rebadged version of the Rotrex unit will be surprised to find the internal engineering of the two units are quite different. Preliminary information concludes that rollers used within the GT unit use a larger single roller followed by two smaller sized rollers which HKS engineers have found to improve supercharger efficiency and boost response. Detailed specifications on the internal supercharger designs have been deemed as top secret as we enjoyed a brief breakfast before being quickly escorted out the conference tent and onto the El Toro tarmac to begin our driving impressions through a series of quarter-mile and an autocross events.'

Thanks.. Basically, sounds like it *might* be ok, but no one really knows for sure, except possibly the HKS engineers.. And I can't afford to risk it, so.. I need to pursue a refund.
