Thinking About Enkei RP-F1 15x7

Post by na6cguy »

yea im thinking about getting these rims for my 92 NA, the 35mm offset...anyone know a pretty good tire combo? 215 in the rear and 205 in the front??? how does that sound? or just keep 205 all around??

Excellent choice of wheels. I'd go the same tires all around. 205/50-15 Azenis 615.

I plan to get this exact combo for autox.

Mike (MPHeinitz) is right, stick to same size front and rear. Your Miata has a 50/50 weight balance and the ideal setup is front and rear of the same size. The 35 is a great compromise for somebody that wants one set of wheels and tires for street, autocross, track days, etc.

I have been running 215/45 X 15 Toyo T1S or T1Rs on mine for years. If you look at the second picture (Red and Tan M1) on the Wheel forum for RP-F1 you can see the fit. More tire on the road without the additional weight of the 205/50s.

I haven't seen a 215/45/15 around? Is Toyo making it?

Yes, Toyo makes the 215/45/15 in the T1R...we have it in our web store.

Brian:

Also have a '92 with the 14" BBS wheels which are suppose to be in the 8.5-9 # weight range.

Looking for track set of wheels/tires. Is it best to stick with the 14's due to light weigh of wheel/ tire combination - probably 205's - or better to go to wider 15's with 215 or 225's in spite of the weight penalty?

Standard miata track day setup is 15x7 with 205/50/15s and that proved faster than the 14 inch combos (widest stock 14 was only 6 inches wide). I don't like to go over the 205 size for the early and very light Miatas unless we have a Miata with forced induction.
