brake pads for drive to track day

I have 1999 with aggressive street suspension. I drive to the track and change to R tires. I've been using Porterfield R4s front pads for the last 3 years. (because of 1999 brake bias I use stock Miata rear pads) What will the problem be if I install R4 pads before I leave for the track? For a 100 mile trip the pads will be cool when driving on the freeway. Will my stopping distance be a problem on the freeway?

I use the R4 for driving to events. You might roll through the first stop sign on a cold morning. So...leave lots of room for your first stop or drag the brakes for a bit. After that first stop I find they work pretty well, even down the freeway when you would think they would get full cold again, but don't seem to.
