Tnx.
For the 2.0L, I would recommend the K1 rods. Very well made and will hold 750+ ft lbs of torque. They are about $350 US.

Yeah, overdue on that. WE have been crazy busy but I hope to finally dig into the turbo project. New motor was installed weeks ago and we need to run it in on the dyno and then start install of the turbo plumbing. Just waiting for the warmer days of Spring to start here to get on it.....soon.

After months and months of gathering parts our Turbo NC-EXTREME LIVES!

Final Assembly has started. GT2871 Turbo. Much work to do, much remains to be made from scratch, including down pipe, but hope to be testing in a few weeks. Will post many more pictures here over the new few weeks.

This is gonna be an awesome ride!

Are you sure that turbo will meet your power goal? I'm thinking 3071.

The closest I could get was mid 300s with the 2860rs, 86ar on the 2.0 with stock compression at 15psi. Unless you either go up in compression or turbo, I don't see 400whp.

Oh, and you're definitely gonna want a 3.6 back there. ;) And while you're at it, see if you can source the Euro 1st through 3rd gears for the 6 speed. They will help traction. Not to mention 70 in 2nd at 7000rpm. :D

Our goal is XP Autocross driveability and we need power from low rpms and a broad range. Thus, selected a smaller turbo. If we don't peak at 400 or better that's okay, as long as it drives from the corners. It's rather like Mark Keisel's Rotary E Mod car that dropped the big 400 hp 3 rotor and found more speed with a 2 rotor that makes less hp but over a broader range.

Agreed on the ratios, we need at least 70mph in 2nd gear.....and 75mph would be better.

New Miata SpeedSport clutch, single disc carbon/carbon clutch with a Billet Alum flywheel. It uses the stock clutch cover but the friction plate is light weight Billet Alum piece to replace the steel casting. This saves 3-4lbs along with almost 2 lbs in the disc. Comments from the maker:

The clutch that we talked about is going to be a single disc
carbon/carbon clutch with a Billet Alum flywheel. It is going to use
the stock clutch cover but the friction plate is going to be a light
weight Billet Alum piece to replace the steel casting. Just by doing
this I can save 3-4lbs along with almost 2 lbs in the disc. As I'm
sure you know, the lighter the disc the less wear and tear on the
trans syncros. Carbon has to rub against itself so this new friction
plate will have carbon screwed into it. The disc will be carbon on
both sides, which makes for very smooth engagement. As stated the
flywheel will be made from alum and use the same style carbon inserts
as the friction plate. By building the clutch this way we have made it
completely rebuildable by the customer out in the field. All they have
to do is install new pucks in the flywheel and friction plate and
replace the disc at a cost much less than a new unit.

Unit arrived already nicely assembled/balanced with the flywheel. Put this setup on the scale and it is a solid 6 pounds lighter than the ACT HD and Fidanza flywheel combo we have been using. Installing in our autocross Cosworth 2007 MX5 and, assuming testing goes well, will install one in the Turbo NC-EXTREME too.
