Rotor resurfacing

Post by slvrspd »

Brian,
In your opinion is it necessary to resurface the rotors(DBA series 4000) if switching from Hawk HPS pads to Porterfield R4S pads?
About 25 000 km on current pads and rotors....and apart from the pads needing replacement after this weekends abuse on the track(200 km/h front straight speeds)there are no other issues with the brake system.
The rest of the year will just be autocross and dd street use.
Thanks

If the rotors are heavy grooved then it would be a good idea. But, you won't have any problems bedding the Porterfield on top of the hawk material already in the rotor surface.
