Header Midpipe questions

I've searched and read through several posts but still can't find the information I'm looking for. I've currently got only an exhaust (Enthuza Cruiser Duals) and a Sniper tune; I'd like to add a header and midpipe. I remember reading on miata.net, a thread that indicated that the header and midpipe would add some degree of additional sound but would also reduce the amount of drone. I can't find what I "thought" I read previously.

A bit more sound would not be a bother, it's more the drone that is annoying and is what I want to avoid having to deal with in addition to what I already have.

Did I read what I thought I read or am I totally off base?

If you go with our Street Header the average passenger in your car will still think it is stock sounding. It is slightly deeper in tone but not much louder, my wife loves it her 2012....and nobody has complained it is too loud.

It is our non-catted headers that really change the sound to aggressive.

I've read the info on the midpipe but still have a question. Do the holes for the O2 sensors have plugs for them? I would be buying the street header with the O2 connections so would not need to use the ones on the midpipe.

Sorry to highjack, but had a related question.

Does the cat in the street header keep things quiet enough that you can get away with something like the Street single, or do all headers add enough volume that you really want to be running the Q? This is assuming the RS midpipe as well, and that it has to pass the wife test. :wink:

Making a 'wife approved' faster and more fun daily driver is the whole point of our 2012 project. Thus, no surprise that my suggestion for 'wife approved' is precisely how we did it on our 2012, using Street Header with the Q at the end.

Sounds like a plan!

Now you just have to tell me the secret to convincing the wife to try auto-x. She loves riding in the car and enjoys driving it, but right now she thinks I'm a little bit nuts for wanting to knock down a bunch of poor defenseless cones in an empty parking lot. :lol:

My wife doesn't mind me autocrossing. She prefers it to the cost of me taking off work Friday, paying track fees and coming home exhausted, late Sunday night from a long weekend (and drive) at a race track. Even most of my 2 day autocross events are close to home and I can still get some chores done around the house. Plus racing cars is better for me than the broken bones I got from motocross. She was not too happy about me funding orthopedic surgeons new cars back in those days.

Buy the Q muffler.

In case you haven't gathered from Brian's response...I happened to receive my midpipe today so I took a look for you. The midpipe ships with the O2 sensor holes open, but two screw in plugs are included so you can run the stock or other catted headers no problem...
