Cold Air Intake

Post by RonaldS923 »

Brian,
How much more noise does a cold air intake generate as compared to a k&n filter in the stock air box?
Also does this increase the exhaust noticeably?

Based on my experience, the answers are "not much" and "no."
2009, STR & DD. 1995, HPDE. 2004 MSM, sold. 2010 Mazda3, hers.

If you have already done header and full exhaust you might not hear that much additional sound from the intake change....but on an otherwise stock car the addition of the open intake (like the AEM) does make a noticeable increase in sound

Indeed open or closed intake won't effect exhaust sound.
