I need a "highway" alignment

Post by ourly »

Hello,
Next week I'm driving 1885 miles and I want to get an alignment.
Specs:
New Ventus V12 2
H&R Sport Springs
Yellow Konis
"Stiffer" RX8 sways.
What's a non race, uber stable alignment?
Thanks Brian!

FRONT
camber -.8
CASTER 6.5
TOE IN 1/32 per side (1/16 total toe in)

REAR
Camber -.8
TOE IN 1/32 per side (1/16 total toe in)

Boring but tire safe....and stable.

Don't be surprised if the alignment shop can't get the negative camber as low as Brian's recommendation. These cars naturally gain negative camber when you lower them, and your H&R springs and Konis are both dropping the ride height. But as long as you go with Brian's caster and toe recommendations, a bit more negative camber isn't going to hurt anything. Just have them set it as low as they can get that still matches side to side and front to back. If you end up with more like 1.2 or even 1.5 at both ends, the tires are still going to last fine.

Chuck is right, without offset bushings that allow more camber range or some other mod to allow more adjustable range it may indeed be the case that the shop can't get less than 1.2 or even 1.5 negative camber all around. Assuming that happens, take as little as you can get on camber with even numbers both sides, take even higher caster number if that helps.
