No problems only being down 1.25. Had no issues at 1.5 inches as well.

Yes, FULL travel. That's the whole idea behind adjustable length shocks...to allow the same amount of travel even if we lower the car. Unlike static length shocks that give up travel as you lower the car, here the lowering is done by shortening the shock (you simply spin body down into the base more---and you can do it on the car).

Note, tried on some old Mazda rims...they fit. Old RX7 wheels, 16x8 50mm offset with 245/45/16s. Was planning to run this size for track based on measurements I made earlier but wanted to test fit to make sure they would clear. Drove the car hard tonight with two people and could not find an issue. Looks like this is our track size.

The RX-7 wheels look good but not great. Other options in 16 x 8 with 50 mm offset?

That's the problem, not many options in this fitment. Some choices that are close at 48mm which are likely going to work just as well but Mazda really did not leave much space to the outside..most of the space is to the inside. If we were dealing with a 40mm offset the choices would be easy but with stock at such a high offset of 55...the choices are not yet very plentiful. Good news is that the new Suburu STI is also in this range so more choices should be coming.

Brian,

Are the PSS for the NB the same in this regard that they allow full OEM wheel travel?

The bilstein is a static length shock...shorter than stock but not adjustable length. They are only about half an inch shorter than stock so for the first 15mm or so of lowering there is no loss of travel with the Bilstein but lowering further starts to eat away at travel.

Note that this is a very simplistic discussion if all we do is look at travel. The reality is that you don't need as much travel as stock when you use a higher spring rate with appropriate damping...a given bump or dip in the road will not cause as much compression of the higher rate setup.

Moreover, in stock form the NC has a lot more suspension travel than the NA/NB Miatas do. Travel is not going to be as critical an issue as it was with NA/NB Miatas.

Brian, based on your past experience with Bilstien, how long would you guess it would be before we see the PSS9s available for the NC?

Sorry, really impossible to say. Depends on them.

We will have another coilover choice in about a month or so...but not Bilstein yet.

.
Brian, how much "more suspension travel" is there on the NC?
Are the next coilover packages coming from Tein?[/quote]

Thanks for the reply. I'm willing to wait at least a year to see if the PSS9's are offered. The JIC's look very well designed but I really don't know much about the company.

Post by Justin06Sport »

Can you give me the spring rates of those Eibach sport springs for the 06 and what they were stock without the suspension package. I'm having a hard time finding that info : (
