By the way, I found a problem with the FoMoCo (made by Bosch but FoMoCo labels on the side) injectors on the car: they were not performing at high rpms even after a full cleaning at an injector specialist. All injectors passed the leak test and also low and high rpm operation. A couple of injectors didn't flow the same (1 to 2% off). This problem began when the car had only 20k miles on it and got worse over the years, sometimes setting a P0139 code. Most of the time they would work fine, but sometimes fuel mileage would fall (27mpg to 22mpg) and there was a sound in the exhaust of fuel burning that I describe as a chuffing sound. Not a full backfire, but definitely fuel burning in the exhaust during shifts, usually high rpm shifts like 1-2. New Bosch injectors solved the problem, with smoother idle and more power, especially normal starts from a full stop.
My neighbor was a Ford dealer service manager and said that Ford had a bunch of injector problems around the 2006 to 2009 time frame. You might let customers with cars from those years know about this problem. It took me 4 years to figure it out. Stuff that only happens from time to time is really difficult to find!
