Photography Fun.

My old camera died. These taken on handed down Panasonic Lumix DC-G9 with Leica 100-400 lens, from a buddy who moved up to a full frame Canon. Took it for first walk today, pretty pleased with results for hand held walkabout, over 50% crop on each shot at max zoom of 400mm (that's 800mm equiv 35mm). Before I could start to think of what replacement camera I might get it seems my 'new' camera found me. First two shots in sunshine, second pair of shots in low light/shadows. The Merlin's feathers certainly look a bit soft focus but Sun had gone down and light was fading fast and I am hand holding at about 50ft away, so overall pleased with first outing.

Bike and Birds. Did 20 miles on the bike this afternoon with camera in the backpack, stopped whenever I spotted something to shoot with the 'new to me' camera.

Very nice.
I share the same enthusiasm for photography. However I use an iPhone 13 Pro Max now. Yes, not the high end but it does well.

Driving and hiking our way across east Africa for 15th Wedding Anniversary and boated up the Nile yesterday to Murchison Falls in Uganda. Tons of wildlife photography opportunities along the shore as animals sought the cooling waters, including this wonderful male elephant knee deep in the river. G9 with PL 100-400. I got the picture just when he flared his ears and trumpeted to let us know we had drifted close enough.

SHOP PUPPY: Mr. Happy.

He came with the name, the kids of the house he was born into said he was the happiest pup of the liter so he earned the name 'Mr. Happy'. My wife swore to change that name after adoption but a week or so with us we came to understand it was right. Now heading for 7 years of age. Loves to run, smart and good with games like hide and seek.
