The 18x9.5s are back in and I've ordered up a set in this fitment for my '06 Miata. Can't wait to see what they look like!

Here you go guys....18x9.5 all around, 285/30/18s KHUMO V710s in back, 245/35/18 KHUMO V710s in front. When I was bolting it up I thought for sure it was never going to work. Then I drove it around the block....and it had no issues! Then I drove it up Soledad mountain and back down...no problems! TONS OF STICK....oh yeah! Ready to run CSP or SM2 at the next Autocross!

That's our CSP and SM2 competition setup....18x9.5 all four corners and just 17 pounds each, car lowered with JIC coilovers. More info on this fitment in the JIC thread here:

One of the wheel/tire options I'm considering is the Toyo 245/35-16s mounted on the 16x8 RP-F1s. I have some concerns about running a 35 series tire on the road. Any feedback from Miata owners using this series tire?
My Miata is a 1990 V8 conversion. The front fenders are stock and the rears have been flared. I'm presently running 215/40-17s on 7.5" rims (30mm offset-on a fast, bumpy, tight corner the front tires occasionally hit the plastic fender liner). I don't like the look (or weight) of the 17s and would like to move down to 16s or 15s. Even though the 215s are fairly wide, I would like more tire. Presently, it's a toss up between a 15 x 8 inch rim with 225/45-15 Hankook R-S2s or the RP-F1 16x8 inch rim and the Toyo 245/35-16s.
The car may see of odd track day, but most of my driving is highway. The highway driving is a combination of canyon carving with my Miata buddies and touring with my wife. The car is not a daily driver, and spends the winter months in storage.
Any comments/opinions would be appreciated. I can't decide on which would be the best combo for my type of driving.

The 16x8s have proven popular with the NA/NB big hp guys like yourself. You can run them with either 225/40/16s or 245/35/16. The former is slightly taller than stock diameter, the later is a perfect stock diameter match. We have 15x8 wheels too (30mm offset) which work great for track duty but for a street toy my preference is the 16x8s for the more streetable offset that tucks everything neatly under the fenders and looks very clean as the photos above show.

Fall update...we now have about two dozen customers using this new 16x8 combo with the 245/35/16s and so far no problems reported thanks to the proper stock diameter of the tire and the 38mm offset. Nonetheless, too many variables to say this very wide combo will fit any Miata without having to make adjustments to camber, height, or fender lips.

Does the car feel underpowered with the 18's?? how does it feel on the track??

Are these wheels available in 17x9.5??(special order)?
Do they come out of the fenders?? ( I saw that in the grey one the fit nice under the fenders but in your car they are a little out) why is this??
