Curious to see if anything comes of the speculation that Fiat will use ND platform for their own version, I started my convertible days in a 124....and I like the retro rendering. That's me in the gainy pic with my 1978 Fiat 124....a car I bought for just $50...and it ran!

I now understand that first rendering is NOT even close.....and that this is much closer.

Found my old pic of the 1978 Fiat 124 that started my love of small convertibles and reprocessed the pic with modern technology. Wish I had pics of the entire car but this is all I have. With a new 124 coming on the ND platform we are interested to figure out how much of our ND parts development will transfer to the new platform. I expect our sways and coilovers will fit, and perhaps brakes. I expect exhaust is all different, etc.

Just hours from the Abarth reveal...which is amazing to me, figured it would be months.

Might just be angle of the pic but appears they may have staggered the exhaust tips.

Drove a tuned 1.4 Fiat 500 'Abarth' version today just to get a feel for the motor coming in the 124. Big thanks to buddy Wally Stevens for coming over with it today. Wally is a car guy with lots of toys, from a two year old Lamborghini to a supercharged Vette he runs in the Silver State Classic, to numerous Miatas and finally this Abarth. The Abarth is one of his favorite 'run around town toys' and a few minutes behind the wheel and I quickly understood the attraction, it's fun in a rocket powered phone booth sort of way. It's not the fastest thing around, it won't scare any Mustangs, but visibility is great, and it scoots through holes in traffic with just a moderate squeeze of the pedal. As a 6'2 guy I still had about 3 inches of headroom even with the sunroof version. Jump on the freeway and point to the fast lane and even moderate throttle will quickly scoot you past 80mph with ease, I hit 100 mph going up grade with little effort (and the motor was still ready for more). Wally noted that his has about 40k miles without any issues beyond a broken mount for the horn. The motor makes torque early, pulling easily from 2k. Torque curve feels pretty flat through a broad range, slowly falling off after about 4.5 k rpms, keep it in the meaty midrange and it just pulls.
