Are MX-5 and RX-8 wheels interchangable? I'm thinking of running the Kosei K1-TS with very light General Tire Exclaim UHP tires (245/45/ZR17) on my 8. It should cut roughly 12lbs per corner, and they are super sticky.
They say it fits 17x7 widths.
Any comments on this setup? As well, if it doesn't work, can I choose among other MX-5 wheels?

It fits but too narrow for your RX8. The RX8 is about 600 pounds heavier and I suggest at least 8 inch wide rims for decent performance.

Is it too narrow because it will look funny, or is it too narrow because it will not hold a 245 tire or will stress under racing?

All the above...way too narrow for 245 on 3000 pound car and it will look funny too.
