2007 NC WHEELS FOR DAILY DRIVING

Post by Charlie HA! HA! »

First of all I have 2007 Brilliant Black Grand Touring Retractable Hardtop :D and it has stock 17" wheels that I hate with a passion! they are ok if you have a covered wagon between the butt ugly rims and the poor ass Michelin tires that are greasy as McDonalds French Fries the daily driver SUCKS! Especially in the rain! I want a better ride and was thinking of going with 16"x 7" rims with either a 205/55-16 or the highly recommended 225/50-16. Does anybody have any advise that would help in this delema :?:

sorry to revive an old topic,

but i kinda wanted to ask about NC rims for daily driving.

I was wondering if anybody uses 18" for daily driving. say a 18x7.5 48offset?
i figured it might clear the car fenders etc..

and if anybody has pictures of their NC to post onto the forum too?

Very few on 18s for daily driving. We have customers on that size for racing and you can see pics in the RP-F1 thread but that's it.

I have a 2007 MX-5 GT with standard OEM 17x7 wheel's like you... I only trade the skinny greasy Michelin stock tire for a set of big 245/45ZR17 Continental ContiSportContact 3! The grip and comfort are like day and night to tell you the true on everyday driving, they look huge too... :P What's also nice about those new Conti 3, they have the same tire weight as OEM!

I too am faced with a new tire delima on the stock rims. I was looking at a 215/45 17 as wasn't sure if they would fit. Did you not have to do any mods to get the 245/45ZR17 s under the car? No rubbing?

Any pictures so we can see how it looks?
Going topless in public is never indecent, it's life on a roadster even if you're barely street legal.

Kumho Ecsta ASTs

Post by WCS »

I just took the OEM Michelin Precedas off my 2006 NC. They only had 11,000 miles and I figured half worn, but they were terrible tires. They followed every irregularity in the road and the steering had a nervous jittery feel to it. Great for a $152 tire!

Anyway, Winter is about here and I would have gotten killed driving around on a so-called high performance summer tire. My choice was the 215/45/17 Kumho Ecsta AST a very good and cheap all season tire! I've had them before on my cars, and they have delivered the goods with good handling, quiet ride, long life, and boy are they cheap for $63!

Incidentally, Discount Tires local outlets will match Tire Rack's price. So with the price of the tires, shipping, mounting & balancing, and tax, the tab was a few dollars under Four hundred.

For bling and summertime, I have another set of wheels and tires.

I recall someone on this forum mentioning that they were running on the 2004+ rx8 18x8.0 rims with 245/35/18s ... close to 245/45/17 rolling diameter, but with less sidewall flex ...

I don't know the rx8 wheel offset, but I think I recall that there were no fitment issues on lowered suspension ... eibachs?

After looking at a bunch of alternatives in the 17x8.0 size, I was thinking that the rx8 wheel might be worth a look.

Anyone have any info on the 2008+ rx8 wheel offset and weight?

Can't recommend the RX8 wheel....too heavy at 21 pounds each. The rest of the specs are fine with 18x8 with 50mm. Stock RX8 tire size is 225/45/18.
