Same answer I always give which is that 235/40/17 at 48mm is about the limit of stock fenders.... Thus, your proposed move out to 45mm with 245 will rub and need some fender lip roll.

What offest would I need to run to be able to run 245/40r17? I have a brand new set of Michelin Pilot sport cups I would like to use. thanks for all the help!!!

You would have to roll the fenders for that size...regardless of offset. We usually use a 45mm 17x9 for that size tire.
