My "daily wear" is a Falken Rt615 in 225/50/16. I like it. Same 225/50/16 size in that picture above but that's the Goodyear you are looking at. Note that I am running this size on a wheel with 50mm offset...and you may need a fender lip roll to clear it at 43mm

For track I use super stiff and light Enkei RP-F1 17x9 with 235/40/17 R888, for autocross I have 17x8.5 (local class width limit) with 245/40/17....but for around town I compensate for my lowered and relatively stiff suspension with the relatively soft 16 inch rims with Falkens. Result is stock-like ride but with good grip.
Thank you for the response Brian, much appreciated.

Sounds like my tire choice should be ok which I am relieved to hear, regarding the offset yes I need to be careful and I will certainly do some fender rolling if needed. I would definitely like to compensate for having a slightly softer ride by going to the 16" wheel with higher profile tire, but yet have considerable more grip int he dry and especially the wet (which is why I like the F1's).

Only thing that gives me some level of confidence is that another member on the NC forum has the wheel that I am considering and has no problems with his 225/45/16 setup, he is also lowered.

Sorry Brian to ping you again, but what tire pressure do you find suitable for your 225/50/16 setup for daily driving ? Are we looking at 29psi also ? Thanks :)

hey Brian, where do you get those stickers or plaques that you have on the side of your NC. It looks cool, and I would like some. Thanks.

Can it fit? SSR Type-C RS 17x8" +48 with 235/40/17 tyre

Post by yellowcoupe »

Hi Brian,

I have a slightly lowered NC with JIC coilovers and was thinking of this combo on all 4 wheels :

rims : 17x8" +48
tyres : 235/40/17 tyres

Would it fit without rolling?
Would it rub on hard bounces?
Would it be better if i used a narrower tyre eg. 215/40/17 on the front?

tks lots in advance!
Kev
