So any wheel that has 35mm offset can be shaved to 45mm??

even if it is 17 x 9.5?? or 18 x 9??
I found some volks and work emotion wheels that are those sizes with 35mm offsets.

And i found one that it was 17 x 9.5 44mm offset. Will this one fit??

Sorry, it is not that simple. Some wheels are made for one offset and then shaved to another. Not all wheels...

Am I missing something in all this discussion??
It seems so simple to just roll the fenders and run the 18X9.5's.
We were seriously spanked in CSP by a guy running these with Hoosiers at the Canadian Nationals last weekend....
I had to go over to his car and feel to see if the fenders were rolled.
Thats the way I am going next year....and for street 17x7.5 with 235/40 Azeni's

or......de-mod the RX8 and run B stock

Yes, you are missing the fact that it is no simple roll to get the 18x9.5 in there to run the 285/30/18. The 17x9 is a simple and very mild fender roll. The 18x9.5 takes AGGRESSIVE rolling to get it in there with enough clearance for the 285s...or flares.

Ron's car actually rubbed pretty good with this setup above until he bought separate new front fenders that he could work aggressively for full clearance to the 285s up front. As a result of the work it takes for proper fitment of the 285/30s, some are resulting to flares to fit the 285s:

On the other hand, you are certainly right if what you want to run is the V710 in 245/35/18 on the 18x9.5 which is not a big roll to accomplish given that the diameter is not far off stock...

Yikes!!!...extra fenders is a little too much for me to deal with.
What those guys had, was not a 'mild' roll...felt like it was pinched flush, then hammered flat.
So do you recommend the 245 kumho's on 18's or 245 Hoosiers on 17's?

You would come out a good two pounds lighter with the 17x9 combo with Hoosiers. That would be my choice for best autocross performance with 245s.

Hi Brian have you heard from the Enkie group yet if the RPF1 17x9's on 30 mm mounting plate thickness? I have confirmed from a friend of mine who use to work with Rota Phils. (engineering and design department) that "shaving 3mm off a 30 mm mounting plate is definitely safe especially the way Enkie cast their alloys almost comparable to forging".

Finally got another set here of 17x9 from Enkei...not much meat on the mounting plate. Thickness only .3 inch at the lug holes.

Thanks for your time Brian. The deep dish design of the 17x9 RPF1 is what makes it difficult for me to abandon this wheel. Quite frankly I can settle for a rear fender roll coz the rears look pretty good, but the fronts are a bit out of the fenders as illustrated in that red NC. Last shot for this wheel Brian, can the fronts be tucked in more with the 245's by lowering it further?
Going topless in public is never indecent, it's life on a roadster even if you're barely street legal.

Yes, lowering the car enough pulls the wheels back inward a little.
