Performance web sites for RX-7 ??????

Postby LTMEMORY » Tue Oct 03, 2006 3:44 pm

Hello;

Can someone assist me with engine performance accessories for the RX-7? Is carburation used in this instance, or is fuel injection the way to go?

Also, seeking performance intake manifolds and carbs for the Rotary engine ------------ such as weber side draft or similar type of things, if this is feasible or possible.

Building up a used RX-7 and wanting to hop up the engine trans, drivetrain for performance

Your assistance will be appreciated.

Continuing from above .......

I think what I need to know is what is available? I have seen a number of RX-7 engines and all are fuel injected.

Is there such a thing as Weber or Delorto carburation for the Rotary engine? This site seems to be a good one, but in the past, I have seen MAZDA rotary engines competing at LeMans, and other circuits, and not sure how they are getting the HP out of them to do so.

I have a project in mind of getting somewhere around 210 to 230 HP, all the while being able to set it up for HOT STREET use ----------- perhaps occasionally some light competition use.

THIS being a racing site ----------- perhaps someone can enlighten me about this engine ------------------- what can and can't be done --------- I have MUCH to learn.

Hope this helps clarify the above post.

A lot of what is available depends on which generation you have, which you don't seem to mention here. On the newer RX7s the choice is fuel injection but there are various carb setups for the older cars. For example, start with Racing Beat's choices at www.racingbeat.com

And if you can make it out for Seven Stock on the 28th of this month then you can see it all...

Hey! I own a 1982 Mazda RX7.

I run an OER 45mm Sidedraft carb on a stock port 12a engine. I have another 12a I have taken apart and I have done some Bridgeport to it so far. This 12a will be turbo'd with a blow through system, and a turbocharger off a S4 RX7.

What year is your car?

Bad picture, I have done a lot more work than can be seen, and the engine bay looks tons cleaner now than in the 7 month old picture here :)
