Replacing Miata NA/NB/NC Seats with Sparco

Post by rpmchris »

Going with the Fighter, sliders, and Brian's NC seat mounts.

How do I "trick" the airbag sensors?

there's a resistor that you can put across the terminals on the connector. Not sure what the ohmage is, sorry. I know that it was discussed on miata.net.

OTOH my solution to the airbag light is a piece of black tape over the warning light. ;)

Thanks for the order Chris.

BTW, I am another member of the infamous 'black tape club.'

I found this old topic, and need to add to it.
On a NC, I saw someone installed a Sparco seat. I have a new 2010 NC, and have a set of quite new Corbeau Fit pro seats (used in the recently sold NA), with corbeau supplied slider setup. I know the sliders/rails won't work in the NC, but what about the seats? Anyone have aftermarket seats, and if so, how is the clearance (head room) for a helmet. I know the twin OEM hoops are too low, but I might be going after a real roll bar, but don't know if those seats will even fit. Any knowledge here.

Chris,

How did the Sparco Fighters fit? How difficult was the installation? Any idea how much Brian's mounts, plus sliders, plus sidemounts weigh? (I have a minimum weight for seats, including mounts, in my class.) Any photos?

The Sparco Fighter seats, sliders, hardware, and Goodwin mounts weigh right at 30 lbs. Since this seat is a bottom mount, I had to add some steel strap to bridge the sliders. The sliders are mounted directly to the Goodwin piece, and I mounted the seats offset to the center of the car to ensure the driver's seat lined up with the pedals and the doors don't touch the shoulders of the seat (1/4" gap). I'll get some pics once I get my camara repaired.

Will do so this weekend as I'm reinstalling my radio & amp, along with my muffler and trailer hitch.

BTW - we were just under 2400 lbs at SCCA Nationals this year, with the A/C still installed and working, plus stock flywheel, brakes, and exhaust (manifold and midpipe were stock this year, but we took off the Mazdaspeed can). My car is really a STR car running R-comp tires.
