HKS Twin Power

Post by Brian »

Here is something we are playing with currently on our supercharged 2007. Essentially an MSD style Captive Discharge unit...but with a VERY convenient plug and play harness with factory plugs...making install a carefree 5 minute job. Note I don't expect average normally aspirated owners of the NC to get much benefit.....but a number of our boosted customers pushing beyond 10psi are getting some spark blowout and ignition instability, forcing small plug gaps and less than optimal timing advance. Our own supercharged NC is now turning an 8000 rpm redline with 12psi and for those similarly pushing well beyond what the stock ignition was designed to handle this should smooth out both low end response and allow more ignition advance in the upper RPMS thanks to a longer duration spark. Will post testing results once we get some repeated back to back dyno time soon.

The HKS instructions tell us to install on driver's side. But that side is already crowded on a supercharged NC. Thus, installed it on passenger side. Feels great...but we need to get on the dyno to see what improvement we are really getting. Thanks to the PLUG AND PLAY HKS harness the total install time....under five minutes!
