Mid pipe now installed and real easy to do.
The car seems to have settled in with it and likes it too.
Am real pleased.
IMHO for those out there considering this mod, go do it.

So how exactly should you go about getting the very first heat shield mentioned in this post off? I can't get any wrench under it to the bolts. Or the side one that's connected to the firewall. Literally the first thing to do in the install and I'm having trouble. Any suggestions please?

Back in this post, http://www.mazdatalkforum.com/viewtopic ... =45#p17089 , there is some mention of the automatic and then this link to some more info

http://www.mazdatalkforum.com/viewtopic ... 7&start=45

But the link seems to go back to the same thread. :?:

Is there any additional info anywhere?

Specifically I would like to know what extra work needs to be done to fit the catted Street Header to a 6AT, for instance details of rerouting the lines to the ATF cooler.

Thanks.

Not sure what happened to the old thread but two steps, the trim of the panel as shown...and reroute of the coolant line (replace or relocate the hard coolant line above the header with standard coolant rubber line and run it further from the header such as along the firewall and then forward).

Thanks Brian.

Can you just cut the lines?

Does ATF leak everywhere?

Just fitted the headers and mid pipe combo and am very satisfied with the fit and finish.
Everything fitted exactly, it's a pleasure to work with well engineered equipment.
A few differences for RHD vehicles, if you unbolt the alternator completely from the block and place it where the battery was, it gives much easier access to the lower manifold nuts, the alternator doesn't need to be unplugged the cables are long enough to relocate.
This also makes removal of the old manifold easier, with more space around the steering shaft.
The coolant line across the top of the manifold did not need to be disconnected ( as per the forum info) just unbolt and move to the top of the rocker cover.
Comments about preventing the Oxygen sensor connectors from touching the exhaust are valid, but a tip I haven't seen posted before.
On the old Cat heat shield there is a "pig tail " cable guide, unbolt this and it can be screwed to the frame/body
behind the front wheel arch, it can then be bent to the correct position to enable both Oxygen Sensor cables to be run through it.
This allows some movement but prevents the cables from getting too close to the headers or steering shaft.

Hope this helps the next installer of this very recommended upgrade.

Cheers

Ikim
