Recommend a shop to rebuild my engine in San Diego?

Post by Redcap »

Hi everyone! I'm new to San Diego and also engine rebuilds (complete newbie). My Miata is beat, but I love it enough to keep it, rather than buy a new one.

Can anyone recommend a shop in San Diego that does engine work? I live around the UTC. I want the engine R&R'd, but also to put in some new rods and pistons. That would be about it. The engine has an SC on it - I hope that's not enough to scare of an mechanic or charge an additional premium?

Is that does engine work limited to only Engines? My front subframe is bent as well, and I'd like to get it replaced at the same time if the engine is lifted out (assuming that's what you do).

Sorry for the super basic questions, ANY info appreciated, even if you'd assume I'd know it. :)

Talk with ROCKY at

He can do the swap, send the motor out for rebuild, etc.
