rx8 front hub upgrade

Post by grey_NC »

brian,

I tried looking for the old thread on rx8 front hub upgrades but couldn't find anything. So do only the 09+ rx8 front hubs fit or do 06+ ones fit as well?

The correct part number is F189-33-04X and is from a 2009+ RX-8. There are two different options, but this one has the correct ABS sensor mount.

Just to clarify, I can install the older RX-8 hubs but they just won't have the correct ABS sensor mount. So basically if i go the older RX-8 hub route, I won't have ABS. Is that correct?

So I could run RX-8 brakes(calipers and rotors) then as a low cost step before upgrading to a Racing Brake type setup. Does anyone know if there are any issues running front RX-8 brakes(calipers and rotors) with 17x9ET52 949 6ULR wheels?

Yes, RX8 brakes discussed here in other threads many times. The only downside is weight. If you need the extra thermal capacity then the RX8 brakes are a cheap way to get it. The downside is that the result is the same as if you bolted up some overweight 25 pound wheels....because those brakes are adding significant unsprung weight at each corner.

Understood regarding the weight... It's just a temporary fix until i have enough for the BBK. I was mainly asking about fitment vs. the 17x9ET52 6ULRs. Sounds like they will fit but will be heavy. Thanks Brian for your insight into the Miata vs. RX-8 brake questions.

Yes, they easily fit the 6ULR wheels.
