When looking for a wheel, do I need to consider anything when it comes to installation or are they universal and all wheels will mount to steering column?
Also, are there any wheels that allow you to retain the horn? I don't care about the airbag, but I'd like to keep the horn if possible and what is the stock size wheel? Do most guys run the stock size or a little smaller and what are the advantages and disadvantages of either choice?
Finally, If you currently run an aftermarket wheel, can you please post what kind and where you purchased it from.
Thanks for any replies.

Re: Questions about aftermarket steering wheels for NC
I have the Sparco 383 and LOVE IT. My car is prepped for CSP autocross, so I can lose the airbag AND the horn, which I did. The horn button I have (although not required for CSP) is not connected...I just drive it very carefully and am super defensive.
I also installed a Sparco hub extension in addition to the Sparco hub.

Chris,
Where did you get the Sparco hub and extension? Looks like the Sparco is about $100 cheaper than the OMP wheel.

So with this wheel, you can use the factory horn if you want to?rpmchris wrote:I have the Sparco 383 and LOVE IT. One last thing. Can you please give part numbers if you have them handy.

Here is the illustrated DIY installation of my OMP steering wheel:

The horn is functional, and the specific cone came with a resistor plug, to keep the airbag warning light off.

My codriver last year at Nats said this was the best mod I'd done! It's the perfect shape, and the suede feels so good.
Don't remember where I got it - I just shopped for the best prices on Amazon. The horn button can be made to work with a little effort. And, I thought I'd miss the cruise control, but I don't that much. Getting closer to a race car every day.

Are those doors without speakers? It looks like there are no speaker grills. How did you do that?

The grilles are right there in the photos. Yours may have the silver rings, Chris' don't.
