Motor Mounts on an NB

Post by Areddi »

I took a look and mine look fairly dirty and worn, but no noticable cracks. I have had a bit of excessive shifter movement recently, but no noticeable vibrations or anything. Is it worth it to replace them just because(starting to do some autocross) or are there any signs I should look for?

Do you basically just jack the motor up slightly and slide the new ones in?

That classic indication of the mounts being worn out is difficulty with fast shifts that you will want to do in Autocross. So, if you have not yet noticed issues grabbing that next gear then you may not need them yet...but you will soon enough.

What is your opinion of the polyurethane mounts that you sell versus the Mazda comp ones? Price point is one thing, but in terms of feel on a motor that will likely be naturally aspirated for the foreseeable future and doing autocross.

The poly mounts are really more for dedicated race cars, a bit too stiff for most for daily use.
