I'm planning a dual purpose NC build and trying to figure out the track day , wheel / tire combo that will be the best compromise for track / street / value.
I'm thinking 225/45/17 on 17x8 wheels
225/45/17 : ( a ) I'm thinking there's a good selection of R comp tires for track ( b ) On the NA , on some tracks , 205 can be faster than 225 due to less tire in the airflow , not sure about the NC on 235 or 245 ... ( c ) NASA TT points system favors the narrow tire ... ( d ) NT01's come in this size
17x8 vs 17x9 ???
Offset : ???
Background : Primary tracks are TWS & MSRH = lots of time to be made on long straights and high speed sweepers ... SCCA Club Racing competitor for 20+ years
Thoughts ???
Dual Purpose NC Wheel / Tire Combo
Re: Dual Purpose NC Wheel / Tire Combo
How do you feel about fender roll? If you don't mind, then most go for our 17x9 RPF1, under 16 pounds. Use it for that 225 for max benefit under the NASA rules....or most use 235/40/17 to keep diameter the same as stock.

Re: Dual Purpose NC Wheel / Tire Combo
Thanks Brian ... I'm not concerned with a fender roll
Sounds like 225/45/17 on a 17x9 ... I like that , gives me the option to try some wider tires at some point
Thanks ... Need to go find a car , then I'll start ordering parts
