NC wiring question

Post by MikeG612 »

We are currently fitting throttle bodies to a 2006 NC 2 litre using an MBE standalone ECU. We are going to power the fuel pump from the MBE ECU. Could anyone tell me what colour the fuel pump wiring is and where it is situated?
Cheers

Are you planning to use the stock fuel pump relay, or power direct to the pump? Powering the pump directly will take 12 volts, but at probably more current than the ECU can provide. Using the relay will require a ground at low current, either a dry contact or open-collector output. Post how you want to proceed, and I'll give you more wire details.

If you're doing this sort of thing, you should really have a wiring diagram of your own for reference...

Thanks for the reply. We'll be using an aftermarket relay powered by the MBE, so i need to know where the wires are in the engine bay for the fuel pump. If you could point me in the direction of a wiring diagram i would appreciate it!

If you're furnishing your own relay (definitely the hard way...), you can send power back to the pump by applying it to the white/red wire going to the bottom of the fuel pump relay (in the housing next to the air cleaner). You should remove the existing relay of course.

The wiring diagram is available from your local Mazda dealer (it's a book over 150 pages long).
