Intakes: MAZDASPEED/AEM or Racing Beat Intake for NC?

Post by NaregM677 »

With the price increase coming in 3 days, looks like now is the time to buy! So is there a consensus on which is better? I keep hearing conflicting information, some saying that the MAZDASPEED/AEM is better because of the better breathability and others say that the Racing Beat intake is better because the plastic cover will funnel in colder air from outside the car without pulling in warm air from around the engine. I'm currently running stock but will be adding more power in the near future (though still staying naturally aspirated). Thoughts?

To clarify, price increase comes in March...but not March1. So, figure you got at least a week before we get those prices updated to the new prices. I prefer the AEM intake.

AEM is aluminum tube.
Racing Beat is steel tube (heavier).

I also prefer AEM's dry element filter....which has done better in my dyno tests than any oiled filters.

Thanks for that tidbit of info Brian - I had similar questions regarding intakes as the OP

I will soon be getting a CAI to go with my Progress bars and Progress Springs :) - (which I have yet to install)

Then all I will have left to do is the exhaust.

Will you be putting a CAI on your wife's 2012 Street PRHT, or is that project finished?

Cheers,

Brian, what really is the difference between the "New" AEM intake and the older model? It appears the only change they made was to delete the throttle body elbow?

That's about it, no performance differences....just easier fit.

Not to highlight products not sold on this site, but I went with the Moto East CAI and I love it.
