Q Muffler Alignment

Post by LiquidSilverNC »

Hey all, very amateur shade tree mechanic here. My exhaust set up used to be all stock except the RS Q (longer tips appearance pack model) and install was easy enough. I later installed the RS catted header and midpipe. It took a full 2 days but all went well. I recently noticed that the tips on the Q were very crooked. They weren't uneven on the horizontal plane, just the left tip stuck out a good 1-2 inches and the right tip was recessed 1-2 inches. After thinking it through I decided it was because I installed the two part midpipe too short, pulling the Q back. After fighting with it for an hour (up on ramps) I was right about the midpipe. It is still is uneven about 1/4-1/2 inch though. I doubt anyone will notice it, but I do and that is all that counts

So my question is, what are your tips/tricks to making your exhaust perfectly symmetrical on both sides besdies the ol' trial an error method?

Make sure all adjustments done with the exhaust hangers lubed up (I like to use dish soap). You want to get everything lined up with the bolts between muffler and midpipe just finger tight so can get some movement between those two surfaces as needed, and likewise with the clamp between the two midpipe sections.

Thanks Brian. With some trial and error I got it aligned! This full exhaust setup sounds so sweet.
