RX8 brakes
RX8 brakes
I have a few questions about converting the brakes on my 06 MX5 to RX8 brakes. I have the opportunity to get a set (front and rear) of new reman RX8 calipers for free, all I would need to get are the rotors and of course pads. The first question i have is - is there a particular year and sub model to get - base or sport suspension. The next question - is there anything else i need to replace - brake hose, dust shield, etc. I do about 4-5 hpde events a year, what's a good pad that will also be ok for the street?
Re: RX8 brakes
Even most the automatic equipped RX8s had the Sport brakes, bolt them up and have fun.

Re: RX8 brakes
So Brian, would I need to replace the dust shields or modify them. How about the brake hoses?
Re: RX8 brakes
I would take out the MX5 dust shields and not replace them. Yes..you need slightly longer lines, calipers are moving further out to work the bigger rotors.

Re: RX8 brakes
Thanks Brian. Would the RX8 brake lines you sell work?
Re: RX8 brakes
Brian, I have just 2 more questions. (1) which hawk pad would you recommend for a daily driver that will do 3-4 tracks days and (2) which rx8 brake hose that you sell thats recommended. I'll be adding the rx8 brakes front and rear. Thanks.
Re: RX8 brakes
I like our Technafit brand of lines.
As for Hawk street pads that can handle track days, that's Hawk HP PLUS.

Re: RX8 brakes
Brian, how do you feel about the Portfields? I been doing a little research on the Hawk HP Plus pads and the the recurring them is very noisy and very dusty. I don't mind the dust as much but noise on a daily driver might be a little much.
