Springs or Coilovers

Post by Ed1981 »

This has probably been asked to death. I have a NC2 and wanted to lower it, can’t decide between progress springs/Koni/FCM stops or maybe Tein Street Flex or their newer Flex Z (coming out soon). I don’t plan to autocross, just tighter for daily driving. Considering the price for springs/shocks/bumpstops are similar to Tein prices, is there any advantage to buying that combo? Will it last longer than coilovers?
Thank you
Ed

Hi Ed

It depends on how much suspension performance you want. The spring and shock combos are great for daily driving comfort with a nice jump in performance over stock....and the Coilovers are a MUCH BIGGER jump in performance with much higher spring rates. With coilovers you have full control over final heights including freedom to change your mind and go higher or lower later. The much higher spring rates in coilovers translate to much higher handling limits than you get with the spring/shock combos but that also means stiffer ride.
