Back to our ND2 that has been parked, time for fun with it this weekend! Practice tomorrow, Autocross with SCCA on Sunday! First event with this car was a blazing success and then second event it didn't work, I got crushed by over 2 seconds in the results. Driving the car I noticed the nose was going up left on throttle, down right on engine braking. Remembering we had some test pads that Porterfield asked us to try we put the car on the rack and turned the wheels, sure enough passenger front didn't turn near as easily. Pulled the test pads and found we had damaged the rotor, replaced that and now car is working again, hope to have a better result this weekend.

Back in victory lane for the ND2 Project, top of CS class, Top PAX through third run group of the day (out of 4 run groups and over 200 competitors). Full report tomorrow.


Super fun event, slim margin of victory, great course and great battle with our friends in CS, going to be a really fun season ahead!

Brian,

You mentioned in an earlier post that you had changed to the medium bump stop in the rear. What bump stop are you using in the front?

Soft front, medium rear with thin slice of hard on that medium to equal full length of stock rear stop. The whole point is doing our best to balance that big front sway bar in a class that doesn't let us change the rear sway.

SCCA event this next weekend, practice Saturday, Autocross Sunday. Getting excited!

Checking back we see the indexed results from last event, top finish in CS and 2nd on PAX out of 130 competitors is not bad!

Practice yesterday and the car had a bit more understeer than I recall from prior event, had top time of day in the morning groups but I was working around the understeer, going to adjust front sway bar a notch softer for today's competition.

Brian, with the ND1 in CS still with the stock shocks but the Karcepts front bar, what do you recommend in terms of the bumpstops? All I'm seeing are recommendations for aftermarket shocks or lowering springs. Stay OEM or same as ND2, with a hybrid of medium and hard in the rear (what about the front)? Or as the page for the soft bumpstop says, soft upfront with medium in the rear?

We like off the shelf KONI SPORT shocks, they are lower pressure than stock so the car sits a bit lower to gain a bit of that negative camber we are so hungry to get. We also like the KONI because we set rear full stiff (which is rebound adjustable only) and that allows the rear to jack down in slalom sections and sit on that rear stop more to balance the front upgraded sway bar.

On stops we currently have a medium hard rear stop sitting on sliver of hard stop, total length equal to stock bumpstop length. Is that the ultimate solution? Nope, but that's what we have in the car currently and my understanding is that our fastest competitor (buddy Scott) has about the same in his ND1 because I handed him a set of the stops after event in December and he reported later that he likes the change.
