Looking for wheels

Another tire/wheel question...anybody ever try a 17x8.5 +49 wheel with 235/40-17 tires on an NC? Will it work? If so, can the car be lowered with Eibach Pro springs (about 1.5 inches down)?

Oh okay! Those wheel's are perfect fit with 235/40/17, no rubbing and you don't need to roll your fenders with the Eiback pro-kit... :D

Btw, this wheel offset is 48mm not 49mm!

Wow! Cool! I was told by the dealer unequivocally "No". But after looking at a web site (wheelmaster.com) which has a neat wheel size/tire size calculator (which gives you an estimate of clearances needed with various combinations of tire and wheels) that this size, i.e. 235/40-17 on a 17x8.5 +49 wheel might work if there was enough inside clearance. I checked my miata and there looks to be at least 1 inch of clearance (about 2 fat fingers) between the springs and wheel/tire at full lock.
I've read various posts on this forum and a lot of people really seem to know their stuff so that's why I thought I would ask.
Also, Brian has a lot of great stuff I "NEED".
Thank you.

Any 48 to 50mm offset works fine for 235/40-17.
