Back On Track Today with NC...five seconds faster per lap!
Thanks to our suspension changes our NC picked up 5 seconds per lap today over our last visit here totally stock! That's the combination of JIC coilovers and stock RX8 sway bars and RX7 wheels. We did NOT have race tires on...just wider street tires that came on the rims. See other threads here in our forum for details of how we got to this point, prior track days with the NC and addition of the JIC and the RX8 sways and the RX7 wheels. It has been a long road to get here but today our NC was a blast to drive on track. It still needs more power, more grip, and less weight...but we will get to those projects soon. Our goal was to get 10 seconds faster per lap so we could match the 1:31 time our supercharged and totally developed over several years 99 track Miata could do. Totally stock the NC was a 1:41 car at best and today it was 1:36 over and over....5 seconds faster than stock which is ALL DAY long by track standards and since it was still on street tires we are very happy today with the results!

Brian, I've never done the auto-x thing (but my old room-mate used to
run a turbo'd 260Z down at "San Diego" stadium in the late 70's), so my
question is rather naiive. What class do you run your NC in? I've been
trying to figure out the rule book and may want to run with you folks
some day soon.
Also, what do you recommend one do, to get started? I like your setup
and would probably take your approach.
Thanks! James

Brian,
Thanks for posting your progress with the car. It looks like the NC has incredible suspension tuning potential from the stock baseline. 5 second improvement just from basic coilover and sway bar modification! Wow!
I'm saving my pennies for that JIC kit. Do you see the price changing or any lower cost alternaitives coming soon?
I cant wait to have a better suspension under my MX5!

1:36 clockwise, 1:35 counterclockwise...good for old street tires. Also discovered that we need more negative camber. Will be back there next month on the R compounds to see what we can do. Would like to get this car to match my old 99 when it was fully developed...down around 1:30 lap times. If we could get there without adding boost it would be great.mpheinitz wrote:Dman that's a big pic
Great to hear that the car is working better.
1.36 Clockwise?
See you out there next month....

Here in San Diego I can run it is IS2, SU SM2 and other classes. If totally stock you are a C stock car and that is where I suggest you start. however, with light mods like our NC the IS2 class is a fun place to play locally.MrXtreme wrote:Brian, I've never done the auto-x thing (but my old room-mate used to
