NB SE clutch problems

I purchased and had installed an Exedy Racing Stage 1 Organic Clutch Kit in my 2002 SE. I rally cross and autocross as well as drive every day year around. The OEM clutch lasted 110K and it was the little bearing in the flywheel that froze up that prompted the replacement. At first it released like the normal clutch. After about 6 months the release point has moved up toward the top of the pedal travel. I have had adjustments made so the clutch first engages the throw out after more pedal travel. There is no slipping but very short release and right after pressure is applied to the throw out.

Any ideas what is going on?

Thanks,

Bob

Not the clutch.

Master Cylinder starting to go.

Common failure item...but good news is that we have them on the site.

I replaced the cylinders using the complete kit. Made no difference. Had it adjusted and tested several times. Now the clutch is slipping at times. The slave cylinder is completely withdrawn putting no force on the clutch and it still does not work correctly. Could the Exedy Racing Stage 1 Organic Clutch Kit 10805 have worn out in a couple years without receiving any more abuse than the stock clutch stood up to for many more years?

Or could there be something else wrong that caused the problem with the 'better' clutch?

I am not physically able to change the clutch my self any more and it costs lots of money. Should I go back to the oem setup?

Sorry to hear it, time for a mechanic to have a look. My bet is they find the clutch still good and some other reason the system failing. We have customers using that clutch with superchargers, putting far more abuse on it than the stock can handle....and it still lasts for years.
