i give up, it is too far off to work, this was supposed to be the easy part. Now on to getting the bolt out of my old cat that cracked off. joys

So i got an idea from the miata forum, loosened back the bolts on the cat and then was able to better align the muffler to the midpoint and cranked down the vclamp first, then tightened the cat bolts. Tested, no leaks. Now the only problem is when i took the cloth out to give me the spacing for the tip it popped right up and is resting up on the bumper. i can pull down on the muffler to get some clearance, but what to do to hold it there? darn thing sounds good, wish the heck i could get it on the road.

Back to my original idea of put OEM cat in there, remove broken stud and replace with regular nut and bolt set and I bet that solves your tip alignment issue.
