Namib desert has a spectacular isolation like few places I have been. Pics of watering hole with an ostrich pair in front of me, Andi and our vehicle in the other direction. Maybe I am a Landcruiser guy after all. This one has a swap...with the legendary 2JZ motor without the turbo. Rock solid reliability, which is good when going 100 miles from nowhere to nowhere with nothing around.

Namibia trip completed. Wow, what a journey! We crossed the country and did thousands of miles of dirt roads. Only two million people in a vast country, it's as if the population of Mission Valley at home was spread over the entire state. Drives were long but the country is beautiful. Hot and arid yet wildlife finds a way and we were impressed everywhere with the adaptation of both the people and the wildlife to the environment.

Fun morning chasing Kingfishers up and down the Zambezi. This Pied Kingfisher was actively getting breakfast right at Sunrise. Today I used my wife's setup, new Lumix G9mk2 with Pana-Leica 100-400 and it worked well, and HALF the weight of my full frame Sony and 200-600. I went with her camera today because the Sony lacks the Pre-Capture function (hopefully Sony will add with firmware now that their newest camera has that feature). Kudos to the mighty little Lumix, this is about an 80 percent crop from a boat moving up and down and these kingfishers don't sit still, he was trashing that fish on the branch to get it more easy to swallow.

Newest contenders in battle of the cute baby animal pics for this trip. I give you Mother and Baby Hippo entering the water together at Sunset on the Zambezi river today! Love how the Hippo Mom has a side glance on the one week old baby all the way down into the water.
