Trip to 6 islands in south pacific. Used mostly my ancient Olympus 'tough' compact because I like having underwater zoom lens, unlike GoPro and similar that are extreme wide.

Panda Mania at San Diego Zoo.

We went, we saw, and we tried to get a decent picture.

I include the first picture just to show how ridiculously tough the shot was at the moment we had our 15 minute viewing window. Panda is 50+ feet away in the shade under a tree and I can just barely get a somewhat clean shot with camera held above the 8 foot high glass if I hold the camera as high above my head as I can (screen tilted down to aim it). Too many reflections on this day trying to shoot through the glass. So, I found that this shot over the glass was my best chance for something clean. All these shots are with the Panda in the same spot, and me too. First shot at 200mm, the other four are at 600mm and then a heavy crop.

A fusion of sport and art.

Blue-Winged Kookabura. First time I have seen this variety. Really cool looking and LARGE species of Kingfisher. Shooting today with Andi's camera, a Lumix G9mk2. Forgot how good this camera is in a package that is much smaller and easy to carry than my full frame Sony with equivalent long reach lens.

Got out of the city of Singapore for birding today. Andi spotted the Tawny Frogmouth. This is a night time ambush hunter so catching one with eyes open in the day is a rare treat. Often confused with Owls, actually related to the Kookaburra.
