18x8.5 Konig Hypergram wheels with 235/60-18 Falken tires, lowered on H&R lowering springs for the Escape.

I like this setup, will do similar for sizes on ours.

Our shop Maverick lowered on H&R lowering springs for the Escape. Everyone seems to use these springs because these are what is available, but we got EIBACH springs actually made for Maverick on the way and looking forward to getting those installed.

Measured Spring rates OEM Front 148, OEM Rear 338.
The H&R Springs for Escape Front 220, Rear 325. Note that the balance of the springs made for Ford Escape is terrible! We did it as research and because no springs made for Maverick were yet available, really looking forward to testing the Eibach springs actually made for the Maverick so we have something with MUCH BETTER BALANCE. The H&R Springs for Escape cause terrible understeer when installed on the Maverick.

OEM Rear Sway Bar Rate 253
GWR Sway Bar 1 inch solid bar upgarde with three settings (rates 382, 490 and 610)
Notice that with the rear bar we can go well beyond double stock rear sway bar rates. This truck actually turns now like a good Sports Sedan!

Tires have been ordered!

What did we get? Understand that I am a sports car fanatic, I want this truck to stick the turns. Yet it is also our shop truck and a daily driver for the wife, so we want the ride to stay good too. Add all that up and we will not be doing 19 or 20 inch wheels. So, we have some NEW wheels coming that are a bit wider than stock, 18x8.5 and we went up in tire size to 235/60/18. Since we have the tow package our lower final drive ratio easily more than compensates for the slightly taller tire. Went with the New MICHELIN Latitude Sport 3 in 235/60/18, which is the standard factory front tire for the Porsche Macan SUV. When you want your truck/Suv to handle like a sports car, go with the tire designed to do exactly that.

We might autocross our Maverick for shits and giggles, our friends at Vorshlag are doing more serious race truck build. Vorshlag Motorsports has started the process of turning this 2022 Ford Maverick 2.0L Ecoboost AWD into a race truck, first by putting it on corner scales to check the weight balance. Fun to see the scale and cross weights of nearly same package we got, even same color!

Wheels and Tires are HERE!

FACTORY is 18x7 with Michelin 225/60/18 tire and TOTAL WEIGHT of 51.65 pounds.

NEW SETUp is 18x8.5 5X108 42 MATTE BRONZE Konig Heliogram with 235/60/18 Michelin and TOTAL WEIGHT JUST 46.90 Pounds!

Bottom line, despite going 1.5 inches wider with the wheel and 10mm wider with the tire (and a hair taller), we saved 4.75 Pounds of unsprung weight per corner. Normally 5 pounds per corner makes for much better ride quality but here we are spending that with 1.5 inch wider wheel for much more firm and sporty response from the tire sidewalls, so it ends up about a push on ride yet with much better grip and cornering performance.

And we have gone from four season hard and slow and boring 'Primacy AS' tire to the stock tire Sport Truck Tire used on a Porsche Macan.

Love the look!

How would you say this compares to your Ridgeline shop truck? I'm sure that I'm not the only one cross-shopping these two trucks for my next vehicle purchase :D

I love the slightly larger/flatter bed and additional bed storage space on the ridgeline, but the lower cost and more mod options available for the maverick turbo engine are also appealing.
