MINI Cooper Wheel Thread

Post by Ryan @ GWR »

Starting this thread to consolidate photos and fitment info for wheels specific to the MINI Cooper.

First up, 2005 Cooper S (R53) on 16x8 Enkei RPF1 4x100 +38 with 215/45/16 Falken Azenis RT615K
This is a bit on the aggressive side for fitment with the +38mm offset, requiring a track alignment with some negative camber to help the tire clear the fenders.

Next, another R53 on 15x8 Enkei RPF1 4x100 +28 with 205/50/15. This car is lowered with about -1.75 to -2.0 degrees camber front and rear, and noted no rubbing and clearance to suspension is all OK.
- I would note that while the offset on this 15x8 is lower than the 16x8 above, the shorter 23" tall tire here is what helps this setup avoid rubbing.

Staggered setup of Konig Hypergram in Carbon w/ Machined Lip. 17x8 +45 and 17x9 +45.
- Not easy to tell from the pics which end of the car has which size, and no info provided on tire size or rubbing. Likely 17x9 in the rear since the front is more limited on clearance to suspension components when you turn the wheel. Would expect the 17x9 to rub a lot under heavy suspension compression.

- Tire size not provided but looks like a 225/45/15. Others running this wheel and tire size have noted no rubbing as long as you have adequate negative camber. The short tire height helps here.

- Tire size not provided but looks like a 245/40/15. No mention of rubbing but would expect this size to rub under heavy suspension compression.

"Without any spacer my tire just barely skims the paint on my BC strut body. This is my current strut body clearance afforded by my 3mm spacer":

Pics of Super Nice Mini Courtesy Customer Scott Harrison
Customer notes:
Camber at -2.5 upfront and -1.5 in the rear. It needed 15mm spacers upfront and 5mm in the rear for inboard clearance. The 15mm upfront was necessary to clear the spring perch on the KW coilovers. When I test fitted the wheel without a tire or spacers, the Konigs cleared the JCW breaks easily but the 225/45 tire is just all up on the strut. After raising the suspension a bit and adding the wheel spacers I have about 8mm of space between the perch and the front tire and about 10mm of space between the rear trailing arm and the rear tire.
