Short shifter 01 6speed

I drive an early 2001 6speed. I whold like the shift to be more like the 5speed. The shifter an 1" shorter and with less move when shifting. Do you know of a good shifter-kitt for the 6speed?

Sorry, have not seen a good kit for the 6spd. A voodoo knob will shorten it about a quarter inch and that is as good as it currently gets...

I have driven an 2003 6speed and the shift is like the 5speed. There was a change done to the 6speed in 2002
Soure the 5speed kit whold not fitt?.
Miatamania sell the same MOSS shifter as you I beleeve, and claim it will work on the 6speed before the change in 02.

Do you sell the Voodoo knob with the 6speed shift pattern?

I've also been searching for a Short Shifter Kit for a 2001 6-speed MX-5 (and also the 1998 anniversary-model).

You've got two models that I'm interested in if the fit:

The first one only fits into 5-speed models according to the text.
However, it seems that MiataMania sells the same one but claim that it fits into all 90-01 models and 02-05 5-speed models:

Can you tell me, if any of the kits will fit into the 2001 6-speed model?
Which kit is the best choise if the price doesn't matter?

Sorry guys, word back from the maker is that despite the fact you CAN install this short shifter in the pre-02 6spd cars...the result is a rattle issue so we cannot recommend this install at this time.

I'm about to change the shifter boots, can you tell me if the shifter turret oil is seperat from the gearbox on the early 6speed. There was almost now oil in min. So if it is on it's own I'll fill it up to the shifter ball seat.

I hope a bit off oil in the turret and the new voodoo knob i got form you do the trick. Slik shifting
