Roadstersport Silencer Gasket Problem

Post by Greg (Wales, UK) »

Brian,

Very pleased with the silencer I obtained through MX5MAD.com, however, the gasket leaks when the system is cold (condensation drips out). I noticed the the standard silencer has a circular recess to hold the original gasket, but obviously with the flush surface of your silencer, this won't fit.

Any suggestions?

What sometimes happens is that customers will fully torque one side first, and then the other with the result that they don't get a nice even sandwich of the gasket. Simply undo and redo the bolts evenly.

The factory unit uses a ring style gasket...which does not mean that only a ring style gasket will work on a replacement muffler. However, you can use a ring style gasket if you prefer.
