Brian,
Could you take a look at your flywheels for the NC and compare it to the earlier cars? I want to see if they mount the same way, ie: could you put an early Miata clutch on the NC? I guess the main thing is whether the "bolt pattern" is the same for mounting it to the crankshaft.
